Agree wholeheartedly that the thing you miss is the freedom to do what you fancy the moment you fancy it, especially quiet and sophisticated things like reading, drinking tea or watching something other than Cbeebies.
It does get better with time though, and if you can get your baby used to a trusted other person (relative or professional) early on it will be so worth it, so you can hand them over for a hour or two. I didn’t do this, by the way!
“Drinking a cup of tea all the way to the bottom”. That will be an achievement in the first few month.
I’ve never actually drunk a cup of tea all the way to the bottom anyway – I get two inches down, declare it too cold, and then hand it over to H to finish off!

Have realised my contribution is very boring!
Here’s a more a glamorous one. Go to a salon and get your nails done, then enjoy the long talons while you can.
Babies and long nails don’t mix.
